Barbara lives and paints in Cullercoats, once a fishing village, and is among the tourist sites of the region along the North East coast of Northumberland.
She portrays coastal and inland urban settings that reveal past and present influences through the people who lived and worked in the region.
Sites of industrial and maritime interest, railway stations, unusual public houses, and buildings of local historic interest are features of coast, town and city that form the inspiration for her current work. Barbara has exhibited in many venues such as art galleries, theatre galleries, art fairs, and public places.
Barbara was born in Cornforth near Durham city. After a career in teaching and an eight year gap to look after her family she completed a B.A. Honours degree in Fine Art at the University of Northumbria at Newcastle upon Tyne. In 2005 Barbara graduated with a Masters degree in Fine Art at Sunderland University.
Since 2006 she has exhibited singly and in collaboration with other artists of the North East coastal region and Newcastle. She is a member of Union Quay Artists Collective at North Shields and is a member of Network Artists based in Northumberland.
