'Coast' paintings

I have just completed a set of new pictures of some of my favourite areas of the North East coast. I have used pastels as they easily convey atmospheric perspective in colour, tone, and an interesting contrast between opaque and clear pigment.

These pictures are to be used in the Art Tour of 2013 held by Network Artists of Northumberland of which I am a member.

I will be exhibiting in this event with two other artists in the ''Shopping Mall ''at Whitley Bay.

Network Artists of Northumberland Art Tour 2013

The Network Art Tour is an annual event involving artists throughout Northumberland who invite the public to come to their studios and galleries to talk about their work and to take part in their workshops.

The work is produced in a variety of media such as paintings and drawings, glass and ceramics, sculpture, textiles, and print.

The work I will be exhibiting will explore a subject matter new to me in which I will capture scenes along the Northumberland coastline from fishing villages, beautiful bays to areas around the mouth of the River Tyne.

Sat 1st and Sun 2nd June
Sat 8th and Sun 9th June
Sat 15th and Sun 16th June

Hours: 10.00 am to 4.00pm

Hexham Abbey Music Festival

I will be exhibiting with a host of visual artists in Hexham Abbey this Autumn. The theme of the Abbey Festival is 'New Beginnings'. One of the concerts to be performed is Hayden's 'Creation'. It will be the first time that Visual Arts will be included along with the musical events.

Paintings based on the Festival's theme will be displayed in the North Transept or displayed on easels in the North Aisle from17th September to 1st October. My work will focus on landscape being renewed by natural processes.
